Equine Breeding For Beginners

October 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

You’ve got it! That beautiful stallion or mare that is the perfect example of everything a horse of its breed should be. It’s got great conformation, a perfect temperament, and has performed well in its chosen discipline. You know this horse could benefit its breed by passing on its progeny.

You’ve made the decision to breed your horse.

So, now what? Do you follow the old adage and “breed the best to the best and hope for the best?”

Well, while that advice is actually tried-and-true, and certainly not the worst advice in the world, you are going to have to take a few extra steps to make sure the resulting foal is everything you hope it will be. Because the foal will be a blend of both the sire’s and the dam’s genetics, there are a few things to consider when choosing a good mate for your horse.

* Consider the goal of breeding your horse. In other words, what kind of horse are you breeding for? Do you want to produce a horse for dressage, hunting, cutting, reining, endurance, driving, or one of the other many disciplines? Knowing what kind of horse you want to produce will help you narrow the field as you consider mates for your horse.

* Look at your horse’s conformation. No horse is perfect! Take a good look at your horse, and make notes about his good points, as well as what needs improving. Now do the same to the mates you are considering. Eliminate any horse who have weak points in common with your horse, and lean toward those who correct your horse where he is weak.

* Consider the temperament of potential mates. A horse who is easy to work with is just as valuable as a horse with perfect conformation. Because disposition may be genetic, be sure to evaluate the mate’s personality. What kind of temperament are you looking for in the foal? Is the mate nervous or confident? Timid or bold? Calm or jumpy?

* Look at prior progeny. If the mate has other offspring, take a good look at them. Did the mate pass along its good traits to its progeny? Did any congenital defects crop up? You can investigate ancestry even further by contacting breeders with the same line. Did the dam, sire, and siblings of the mate you are considering produce successful individuals?

* Investigate the health of the mate. Is the mare or stallion in good health? Look for the normal things, like bright eyes, a shiny coat, and an alert expression. If the animal is under or overweight consider carefully, especially if it is a mare. Mares who are not in good body weight can sometimes have difficulty getting in foal. Make sure the horse is sound and moves correctly. Be wary of horses with injuries, as certain weaknesses can be passed to offspring. You should also make sure the horse has received good veterinary care, including regular deworming and current vaccinations.

* Do a breeding exam. A mare should always undergo a breeding exam before you commit. Maiden mares will need rectal and vaginal exams, while proven mares may need more extensive examinations.

* When you think you’ve decided, think again! That’s right. Before you sign any papers or contracts, make sure you know what breeding entails, including the costs involved. And always, always make sure you have a valid reason for breeding your horse. It is not something to be done lightly! In the end, if you’ve determined that your horse can contribute the betterment of the breed, you well understand what financial and health risks you’ll be up against, and you’ve found a good mate, go for it!

Poisonous Plants and Your Dog

September 30th, 2008 · No Comments

It is always a shock when pet owners come home to find their dog sick and their favorite houseplants chewed to pieces. There are many safe plants that can be kept with dogs but there are some vary common houseplants and even outdoor plants that are extremely poisonous and potentially be lethal to dogs.

Understanding which houseplants should not be kept in the house or within reach of your dog is important. The following is a list of the most common houseplants that are toxic. Remember to check any plant with the nursery or with your vet to make sure that they are not poisonous:

· Most Philodendrons
· Chinese Evergreens
· Cordatum
· Corn Plant
· Devil’s Ivy
· Golden Pothos
· Marble Queen
· Peace Lily
· Nephthytis
· Most Dracaena
· Taro vine

There are also many bulbs that are stored over the winter in houses that are poisonous if consumed by a dog or even used as a fun toy. These include most the garden bulbs such as lily varieties, tulips, elephant ears, gladiolas, hyacinth, iris, crocus and amaryllis bulbs. Lily of the Valley is very toxic both as a bulb and as a plant.

Common garden plants that are found both inside and outside that are potentially deadly to dogs include Dieffenbachia, Foxglove, Morning glory, Nightshade, Onions, Tomato plants and most of the varieties of ivy.

Shrubs in the garden or the yard can also be problematic. Trees and shrubs such as:

· Avocado
· Yew
· Macadamia Nut
· Schefflera
· Bamboo
· Oleander
· Mistletoe
· Yucca
· Sago Palm

Many pet owners don’t realize that Aloe Vera can potentially be poisonous to dogs if consumed in large quantities. There are many other species of plants that can cause allergic reactions, rashes and skin and mouth lesions in dogs if the animal is exposed to the plants at certain times in the plants growth. Often the either the leaves, flower or bark is poisonous but perhaps not all three. For example, grape vines themselves are not poisonous to dogs but the grapes can be extremely toxic.

Safety Tips

Take some time to research the various houseplants and garden plants that your dogs may potentially be exposed to. It is not always necessary to completely remove the plants; rather they may just need to be placed above the dog’s reach. Puppies are more prone to chewing and mouthing items than are most mature dogs, so by monitoring how your dog behaves around your house and garden plants you can predict if you will have to remove the plants or if the dog will not bother them. Remember, however, that even dogs that don’t chew or play with plants may decide to do so at some time, so it is usually best to try to keep these plants out of the areas of the yard or house that the dog has access too when unsupervised.

If you believe that your dog has ingested a poisonous plant, or any type of plant, and is exhibiting signs of pain, nervous problems, salivating, drooling, vomiting or diarrhea immediately contact your vet and have the dog examined. Be sure to bring the plant in with you to help the vet identify the poison that was consumed.

The Natural SEO and Affordable Local Advertising Will Take You Places!

September 18th, 2008 · No Comments

You have created an excellent info product that will help a lot of women who have time on their hands, as they are like you - a “work at home mother”, ever since your little boy started going to the regular school. Your web designing experience is responsible for those attractive web pages. Your web site now gives all the information and a product that contemporary mothers will find simply irresistible! But here comes the catch - where are those ladies who will buy this E-Book? You are all alone in this venture and very excited to make a success of it. What is it that does not fill up the blanks? There are two things you can do. Either you find an agent who can sell your widget or you can do it yourself on the Internet - sitting comfortably at home.
Let us consider both these alternatives.

Selling through an agency is no longer a viable proposition for small home type of business and the ever enticing “work at home” label appears to be the best bet in your case. Great, you have decided to work out the possibilities online - rather than go through the difficulties and vagaries of looking for a good agent or salesperson. Did you know that there are many ethical web or net marketing individuals and companies like webwisemedia.com that can make your dream come true? Consider your web pages and the content you have developed for that brochure selling your info product. If you have decided to go online, your marketing technique would be quite different from the traditional offline methods. You will need to know that people come to your website through Search Engines who have in turn indexed your web pages - they must find it interesting and useful in the first place to index them!

Your SEO consultant from webwisemedia.com tells you of their “Natural SEO”method of placing the web site on the search engine’s front pages. This actually means that you have not paid for indexing and though it takes more time to reflect on the search engine’s ranking system, your pages will eventually show up during your keyword search by someone looking for your widget. Of course the procedure and philosophy of search engines is more complex and it’s easier said than done! Your friendly SE Consultant also told you that he will ensure an Advertising Local for your web site pages and try to place them on the most popular directories like Google, Yahoo, MSN, phantom cloaker Pages and several similar sources where people search for their needs. Good, now you are all set and ready to start counting the mullah!

Search engine inclusion is really a dynamic process and your page rank or position on the first five pages can vary from time to time. The natural SEO also ensures that the web site is continuously updated and in line with the SE’s algorithms lest they start falling down in rank and your traffic subsequently drops. Consider taking time off for checking your positions and traffic statistics at Blogger Generator reviews once per week so that you do not land in a situation where your competition takes over your excellent info product!

Strategies To Win At Live Roulette

September 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Live roulette or basic roulette is not the kind of game where the outcome of which can be affected by effort or strategy. The result is based on which slot of the wheel the ball will land, after both are rotated in opposite directions. You can see that this rotation is a totally random event, and out of a player’s control. The maximum that can be done is to follow certain practices which can increase your chances of winning and hope for lady luck to smile on you.

First of all, there are two kinds of roulette wheels: European and American. The European wheel has 36 numbers and a single 0 - total 37 slots, while the American one has same 36 numbers, a zero and a double zero (’00′) - total 38 slots. So, you can see that in American roulette, the probability that the player wins is 1/38 which is slightly less than 1/37 of the European roulette. So mathematically, you are a little better off choosing the European roulette table of a live casino.

Unlike real casinos, their online versions have a practice mode, in which you can play without money. This feature should be utilized to practice and get familiar with the game. Then after you are comfortable, you can go ahead and create an account to play with money. A thorough reading of the casino rule book should also be done, so as not to be confronted with an unexpected rule later during play.

In online live roulette, there is generally an option of seeing the history of your game - your past bets, how much you won or lost. This information should be utilized to find a pattern and learn about your strengths and weaknesses. This will enable you to make better bets.
Then there are different types of bets in roulette with different odds of payout. For example, straight bets have a payout of 35 to 1, row bets: 11 to 1, corner bets: 8 to 1, column bets: 2 to 1, and even, odd, red, black bets: 1 to 1. You should have a thorough understanding of these bets and use them depending on the situation.

There is also a belief in some players that even numbers come up more because they are more than odd numbers. So you can try this and place bets on even numbers.

Being at a casino and playing roulette is not just about winning, but also about having maximum fun while suffering minimum loss, and properly managing yourself and the game is all it takes. Play to lose only up to a limit and exit when you reach that ceiling. This ensures real enjoyment of the game.

Check out live roulette or this next site where you can play roulette online, or if you live in the UK then check out roulette TV. Links must be kept intact if you use this article on your website.

Live In Relations Better Than Marraiges Indeed

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

“Marriage, a beautiful institution!” The things started fine, beautiful bonding of two souls in presence of everyone and with the blessing of god. Probably the most beautiful day in their life was they day they got married, exchange of kisses and a beautiful honeymoon trip in the cards. The things ended in a stunning fashion, now what we hear from them…

“Marriage, a beautiful mental institution!”

This is the most frequently acquainted story of near about everyone, probably i can bet on it. Once for sure every single who gets married definitely thinks about his single life. Why? It was a decision, not a forced one but one they took happily, willingly..

Now it`s like…”Happiness, it has moved out after the marriage!”

Why? Why is this question arising in most of the cases?

Marriage is not as simple as it seems, it`s about increasing your responsibilities, restricting your limits, getting much more behaved..This is where the things strike and they strike really hard. When you have an increased number of people to give reasons to whatever you are doing, taking care of not only your soul mate but even the people to whom he/she is related with, thinking about not only the happiness of two souls but a large number of insignificant people to whom either you or he/she is related..

Somewhere in this misshaped commitment the individual happiness is lost somewhere. Only the responsibilities are visible. Marriage comes with this token of devotion to these things which are no where related to your happiness..Nowhere…

So finally the emotions rage out somewhere causing a dullness in the relationship, everyday quarrels ,which come out of the blue as most of the married couples relate their fights.. It wasn`t something decided it just broke off.. Why won`t it? You can never keep people around you happy and satisfied if you are not keeping happy! That`s a fact. FInally a break off or continuity just cause of some some compulsions…losing flavours of life… Problems everywhere..

Preferring live in as better solution to these hazardous results of marriage is quiet obvious in the present world. Living with someone you love is not preventing you to be an individual in your thoughts. There you are free to take care of your own people as you want and without even caring whether the person u r in love is at all bothered about it or not..Definitely your tensions will add to his/her too but then he/she is having his free will to be with you and anything which is done by choice is better than something forced. No bound no ties..their world will be so perfect..sharing things cause they want to, isn’t it beautiful…

All smiles no tears …. no fear of some relation which can be broken….love and life …a perfect world!!!

It`s about two people falling in love each day as they once fell, this is the aim which marriage can`t achieve and if this is not there in the relation, it`s of no use..!!

To love and to live happily doesn`t require any kind of seal or stamp as “marriage”…

Achieving Better Health With Foot Detox Pads

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Lately, television has been inundated with commercials for foot detox pads. All those commercials may have you wondering just what you can gain out of getting a set of foot detox pads for yourself.

Let’s take a closer look at them:

Should I Be Using Foot Detox Pads?

Foot detox pads are a great way to regain your health when nothing else seems to be doing the trick. While you may be eating healthy and exercising, the problem could be something you can’t control that way, toxins in your system. These toxins have been building up in you body for some time. Detox foot pads are a way to remove them from your system and make your body healthier.

How Did Toxins Get in My Body?

It’s just a fact of life. We are in a toxic world. There are toxins all around us, and some of them are going to get into your system. It could be in the form of the chemicals from the processed foods you eat. Possibly you’re getting toxins from the chemicals used to treat the water you are drinking. If nothing else, you are almost definitely taking in toxins from the air you breathe, which is getting more polluted by the day.

How Can Foot Detox Pads Help Me?

Foot detox pads are patches filled with a natural solution that is meant to get to work detoxifying your body. Most people put them on while they sleep, and the natural solution works while you rest.

The reason foot detox pads work so well is that they are based on the Chinese art of acupuncture, where a large number of the body’s receptors are located in the soles of the feet. By putting these pads on the soles of the feet, you are getting an express route to all the portions of your body that may need a detox.

The toxins will actually be released through the pores on the bottoms of your feet and you will be able to see them on the pads when you remove them in the morning.

How Long Do I Have to Use Them?

Most people use detox foot patches for a week or two. You will know when you are done using them when the pads come off and are clear of residue.

A complete health plan is just as much about the things you put into your body as the things you take out of it. While eating healthy and exercising is important, removing toxins, with foot detox pads, will help you complete the healthy cycle.

Scottish Soccer - Soccer in the Hearts of Scottish Fans

September 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Scottish soccer has been a popular sport in Scotland ever since. During the early times Scottish soccer players challenge other villages to a competition match. There were no formal rules of the game at that time so violence was rampant in almost every game that was held. Because of this reason, King James and some officials attempted to abolish the game but despite attempts, the sport has continuously played.

As time passed, soccer has been accepted again mostly in schools and universities. As the sport became a popular game by many people, institutions had been organized to formalize the rules for the game which is almost the same as today’s rules.

With the extensive acceptance of soccer, Scotland formed a Football Association (FA) to represent the country in international competition. It was formed three month after the first match between England and Scotland. Scotland then established more leagues, and even national teams.

With 42 different professional teams and with two different leagues, it is reasonable that Scottish is the most enthusiastic soccer fans in the world. As Scotland and England are one of the pioneers in soccer, they are the earliest countries to include an international woman’s competition. There are around 53,000 people who came and witnessed the special event.

Soccer is in the heart of every Scottish and will remain that way and will surely never fade in time. More teams and leagues are expected to take part in various international competitions. More action will be seen with the Scotland team.

Soccer on Television

September 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Soccer on television is very different from the more-felt experience live soccer game from a stadium. Though there are many conveniences for both aspects of watching, there is still a noticeable discrepancy regarding the impact of a live game than a televised game on television.

For those who just can’t afford or can’t make it to the stadium, be thankful for television and for the coverage. Not all soccer games achieve high-ratings in television but there is one international tournament though that when held, all over the world is glued into the television set. This tournament would definitely be the FIFA World Cup. Once matches on the World Cup are shown on T.V., most people get hooked into it and with the help of Sports Channels, the live coverage make it easier for followers to feel the excitement and be blown away by the game even by just watching at home.

Soccer on television has made the once locally famous Soccer stars shine and helped them become the international superstars of today. With the help of television, the once unnoticed talents from around the world become household names. People has got a lot to thank for the invention of television and one of these reasons is that it helps to let us see things and matches that we could never actually see due to locations. Without television, people will have a hard time appreciating the game of soccer and the players that make it worthwhile. So for those non-lovers of Soccer, try watching a game on T.V., preferably a FIFA World Cup game, and experience what Soccer is all about.

How to Avoid the Most Common Mistakes in Raising Dogs

September 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Dogs do not come with an instruction manual around their necks. Dogs need time, patience, and understanding. Therefore new owners need information to train, and help cope with the difficulties of the newest member of the family.

Common mistakes in raising dogs:

1. Not enrolling with the dog in “obedience school”.

In any good school you can expect your dog to learn basic commands and proper behavior. “Heel!”, “Sit!”, “Stay”, and “Come!” are all examples of these commands. The dog will learn how to associate with other animals and people. Don’t make the mistake of sending your dog to obedience school alone. If you do, you will have a dog more obedient to the teacher, instead of you.

2. Self-training using improper techniques.

Physical punishment and yelling are not good methods of training. The best methods are stimulation and reward for good behavior. This way the dog will be motivated to carry out commands because it knows it will receive attention and maybe a yummy treat. For this to work, it is important to be patient and consistent.

3. Not researching breed characteristics.

When choosing a dog, do not judge by appearance alone. Take some time to do research on several breeds, to find one that will make a good match for you and your family. If you have a small apartment, for example, a large dog may be a poor choice.

4. Leaving your dog alone in your yard.

Dogs are social animals and naturally live in packs. Spend plenty of time with your dog outside. Play together, make your yard a fun place, not a doggie prison! If your dog is not active enough, is bored, gains weight, gets sick, gets into all kinds of mischief, barks too much, or bites: It is your job to understand why it is happening and make it better.

5. Not giving the a dog a place of its own.

Dogs need an area that is only for them. When it gets nervous or scared it will have a place of refuge. Make it a comfortable place for your dog. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just comfortable. Just like people, every living creature has times when it just wants to be left alone to sleep or relax

6. Letting the dog think it is in charge.

The leader in your house is you, not the dog! Your dog will receive food and attention when you decide. Not whenever it wants. Your dog must earn its rewards, they are not a gift.

7. Making ‘goodbye’ a big event.

Do not make a big deal out of having to leave the house. This is not the time to lavish extra attention on your dog. It will only be aggravated after you leave. A good idea is to leave your dog with fresh food and water, and maybe a toy.

8. Feeding your dog ‘people’ food.

Constantly feeding a dog table scraps can be very unhealthy for dogs. They are not recycle bins! There are many very good dog foods available - buy those for your pet. People do not eat dog food, why should it be the other way around?

9. Having unrealistic expectations.

Though at times it may seem like it, dogs are not human. Dogs need logical and consistent training to live well with people. They do not understand when you explain to them ‘why’. When your dog misbehaves a simple “Don’t!” or “No!” is enough and suitable.

Avoiding these mistakes will assure you and your dog live a long and happy life together.
